Writing

In writing this half term the children will begin by practising their cursive handwriting. They will learn each letter family and practise how to form each letter. After, the children will learn that they need to leave spaces between every word and finish each sentence with a full stop. Then we will teach the children about capital letters and when to use them in their writing. Finally, the children will be taught how to spell the days of the week.

Reading

In reading, the children will become familiar with a range of fictional stories and will have group discussions about their opinions on a story. They will learn about the different characteristics of a story and be able to explain clearly what has been read to them. The children will also learn how to retell familiar stories.
